The Soul of
Punjabi Heritage
Refined by Generations
What began as a quiet kitchen in Haldwani has blossomed into a global table. Yet, its soul remains unchanged — rooted in tradition, excellence, and taste.
FIRST GENERATION — 1960
The Foundation
In the 1960s, in the charming town of Haldwani, our grandfather, Late Sardar Attar Singh Chawla, introduced a culinary masterpiece that would stand the test of time — Kali Mirch Chicken, now fondly known as Cream Chicken.
Crafted with a distinctive blend of milk and cream instead of conventional heavy spices, this dish offered a rich, delicate flavor unlike anything people had experienced before. What began as a humble creation in a family kitchen quickly captured hearts, turning into a celebrated local legend and laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to delight generations.
SECOND GENERATION — Growth
Expansion and Identity
The second generation carried forward the same values while transforming Chawla’s into a recognized restaurant brand. With modern dining experiences, refined recipes, and consistent quality, the brand expanded into new cities and regions.
This era shaped the signature identity of Chawla’s — combining authentic Punjabi heritage with premium hospitality and memorable dining experiences.
THIRD GENERATION — Legacy
Chawla’s Chicken to Chawla’s²
As our journey expanded beyond Punjab in the early 2000s, we discovered that while our food was loved everywhere, the name “Chicken” on the board often created hesitation—especially in diverse, family-oriented markets. Rebranded to suit evolving customer mindsets .The ‘²’ represents both veg & non-veg, served with equal passion.
Today, the third generation is taking Chawla’s into a new era of global presence and modern brand experience. While preserving the original recipes and traditions, the brand now embraces innovation, premium presentation, digital experiences, and world-class hospitality standards. From a family kitchen to an internationally recognized Punjabi dining brand, Chawla’s continues to evolve while staying deeply rooted in its heritage, authenticity, and timeless taste.
